Danica Patrick's Daytona Ride, Lebron James' Eating Habits: BR5 2/23

BR5Jun 3, 2018

Welcome to BR5—your source for sports and pop culture news.

Today’s episode of BR5 gets you up-to-date on everything from Danica Patrick's fast car to cutting LeBron James' meat.

If you're serving LeBron James at a restaurant, you might have to cut his food for him... Word is that when the King dines out, he often asks that his steak or spaghetti be pre-cut for him, not sure if he requires a bib as well, but this is definitely not helping his rep much.  And not to be out diva’d, Alex Rodriguez apparently brings his own cooler of food to restaurants with him. I guess he’s there for the ambiance. But, outdoing them both in high-maintenance absurdity is Allen Iverson. Reports are out that A.I. hates to carry his own luggage when he travels. Solution? Just buy new clothes wherever you go. In his 76ers heyday, A.I. reportedly bought a new wardrobe in every city he went to, then gave all the duds away or left them behind when he headed home.

Danica Patrick needs to go fast this weekend if she’s going to win the Daytona 500. But off the track she’s decided to slow down. No more Lamborghini trips to the grocery store. Dan Wetzel from Yahoo! Sports reports that Patrick no longer drives her $200,000 sports car that much because “I just needed something more practical...It sounds stupid but there are no cup holders in my Lamborghini.” That's a tough problem to have. Danica also said using the Lambo to pick up family at the airport was also pretty tough because it has no trunk.

Have you been waiting for a book to explain the mystery otherwise known as Jeremy Lin? Who hasn’t? Well, wait no more. Digital Book World has reported author Alan Goldsher has just finished his book titled,  Linsanity: The Improbable Rise of Jeremy Lin in just under 72 hours. Not to be confused with The Zen of Jeremy Lin or one of the other handful of Lin E-books finding their way to market, Goldsher’s tome clocks in at 15,000 words and just might answer everything you haven’t heard on ESPN and every Internet site out there. I think even BR5 might have mentioned that Jeremy guy in passing. It's Lin, right?

Next time you’re in Sin City, you might want to skip the gambling and the show girls and instead check out Mike Tyson’s Vegas show. That’s right, the Las Vegas Sun reports that Mike Tyson will star in his own live, one-man reality “confessions” show on the Strip. We can’t think of anything I’d rather do next time I’m in Vegas with my parents than hearing “Iron" Mike dance, sing and confess all of his sins to a shell-shocked audience. The word is that Tyson’s show will “be raw, nothing will be held back...It will be unfiltered, and he’ll tell it like it is.”

Charles Oakley thinks Kevin Garnett is a fake tough guy. Oakley also said the same of Kendrick Perkins, and he thinks Charles Barkley is a coward. Oakley shared his thoughts on the Jim Rome radio show just because, well, he is Charles Oakley. Known for being one of the scariest enforcers to ever play, he's also known for being one of the most honest guys in sports. So don’t ask him what’s on his mind if you don’t want to know. Accusing ball players of being more bark than bite is nothing new. Joining KG and Perk on the fake tough guy list are the Heat's Chris Bosh, via Kevin Durant and Denver's Nene by way of Louis Amundson.
