CM Punk and Chris Brown on Twitter Could Add Intriguing Wrinkle to WrestleMania
Eric BallJun 7, 2018
CM Punk has been at the top of the WWE world for months now and is getting bored.
Dozens of the best wrestlers in the sport aren’t good enough—how about an R&B singer? Just hours after retaining his championship belt at the WWE PPV event Elimination Chamber, he took to Twitter in calling out the recent Grammy winner Chris Brown:
"I would like @chrisbrown fight somebody that can defend themselves. Me curb stomping that turd would be a #wrestlemania moment.
— CM Punk (@CMPunk) February 20, 2012"

The ultra-cocky Brown obviously didn’t take to kindly to being called a turd. He had a prompt response while somehow managing to use the word positivity:
"Positivity regardless of how u feel! @CMpunk contact my assistant and I'll have em send u an autographed pic for my biggest FAN!!!
— Chris Brown(@chrisbrown) February 20, 2012"
This is going to be fun. Brown has a notorious temper that has gotten him in serious trouble in the past, led by his infamous 2009 assault charge against then-girlfriend and fellow musician Rihanna.
Well, Punk is fully aware of this and decided to shoot a video officially calling him out. Punk told the audience how he would choke him out and make him “feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly little boy such as yourself.” WOW.
And he kept going:
"And I don't hit women. Period. In my world, women are to be revered and respected, and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people's actions. I don't think Chris has paid for what he's done.
"
Strong words, and you can bet Brown is fuming behind the scenes. There is only way to settle this and it’s in the ring at WrestleMania. Before the real match between Punk and Chris Jericho, why not have Brown face off against the champ one-on-one?
I’m going to go out on the limb and say most WWE fans are not Chris Brown fans, so the crowd would be in a frenzy. The women-beater references may be too much for Brown, but think about the cross-promotions here. Brown would introduce himself to an untapped market.
Sure it may be on the negative side, but all press is good press. Punk can look like the noble man that puts the woman-beater in his place while donating thousands of dollars to charity. Then he would fight Jericho in what will hopefully be the match of the century.
Brown claims yesterday would be the last day he would address Punk:
"Note:today will be the last day I bring @cmpunk existence up!The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing.
— Chris Brown(@chrisbrown) February 22, 2012"
"Cuz honestly, that s*** is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!
— Chris Brown(@chrisbrown) February 22, 2012"
Something tells me this isn’t over. With less than 40 days until WrestleMania, expect the Twitter trash-talk to continue until we eventually get confirmation that two of the biggest stars in their respective lines of work will be in the ring on April 1 for the biggest event of the year.
This is going to get wild.
