Green With Envy: The Celtics Just Need To Get Mad
A famous man once said "weary lies the head that wears the crown."
Well folks, the Celts are not just weary, they are worn out.
It is time to dust of the "Gang Green" moniker and let out a primal scream.
Somewhere along the way of the 19-game winning streak the Celtics started relying more on last year’s fumes.
The rest of the NBA has found the kryptonite that has derailed them, and it has nothing to do with the "big three." Other teams have learned how to make them sputter.
Teams have figured out how to shut down Rondo's passing lanes by crowding him with a bigger body so that they can stay home on the shooters. As a result, Pierce and Ray-Ray are having difficulty getting clean looks.
The Celtics have now lost 5 of their last 7 games, is it time to panic?
Last year, they had a great road record during the regular season. In the playoffs, the road woes started and it has now carried over into the 2008-2009 regular season.
The team is drained—you can see it in the way they play. They want to do it, but they have hit the proverbial rookie championship wall.
The Celtics are punch-drunk after taking full-frontal body blows from other teams, and they have to raise their level of play.
Boston needs to just get mad.
Someone not named KG has to take control. I think it needs to be Rondo. When he plays at a high energy level, the team feeds off of it.
I know he is only a third year player, but he has to be a constant blur on the basketball court. To achieve that, he has to have great mental focus and not get down when he misses shots.
The kryptonite’s effect is slowly poisoning the boys in green—they lost to the Charlotte Bobcats tonight in overtime—a 12-22 team!
I can see them getting angry—yes very angry.
You want to see them angry.....
