NFL Combine 2012: Athletes Destined to Dominate Scouting Combine
With just one day until the NFL Scouting Combine begins, players are gearing up to solidify—or in some cases, improve—their draft stock The college stars that stand to gain the most from their time in Indianapolis are the athletes.
Not all football players can say that they are athletes, and vice versa. Some can shine on the field, despite looking miserable in shorts and a t-shirt. Others are built perfectly for this kind of event, where they just have to show speed, strength and other measurables.
This does not mean that all athletes make great NFL players, because there is a lot more that goes into playing the game than being able to run a 4.4. 40-yard dash. But teams fall in love with the tangible items, so here are the players that teams will become infatuated with after the Combine.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Vontaze Burfict, Linebacker
One of my personal favorites in this year's draft, Burfict might be the best pure athlete on the defensive side of the ball in this class.
He has quickness, both straight ahead and laterally, strength, power, agility and ideal height for the linebacker position.
Even though there are concerns about his attitude and work ethic, there is no denying what he can do in a workout. He is going to be one of the most talked about players this week.
Lamar Miller, Running Back
Trent Richardson is going to get all the attention at the running back position, but Miller could end up being his equal in many ways. The best part about him is that he is a value pick since he doesn't have the huge hype machine behind him.
He is a great all-around running back, he just has to showcase his talents in his first professional workout.
He has the top-end speed and vision, out of the backfield, to be a star this week. He will be a star in the NFL, and his journey will begin at the Combine.
Rueben Randle, Wide Receiver
This year's wide receiver class is as deep as any in recent memory. Justin Blackmon leads the way, but Randle could end up being close behind when its all said and done.
The LSU standout has the size that teams love—he is listed at 6'4", 208 pounds. He is not going to be the fastest player on the field, but he can run by defensive backs in the NFL.
He also has the best set of hands in the draft. He can go get the ball anywhere it is thrown. It is possible that he ends up being the best value pick of the first round.
