Knicks Trade Rumors: New York Must Avoid Future Deals, Focus on Chemistry

Eric BowmanFeb 21, 2012

The NBA trade deadline is less than a month away, but the New York Knicks should forget about it altogether and put their attention on becoming a complete team with the roster they currently have.

New York is filled with talent, and now the task at hand is for everyone to get better acquainted with one another since the lineup is fully healthy and ready to rock. Sure, some of the players are a little banged up, but no one of great significance will be out for an extended period of time, so a trade isn't needed.

One of the last trades the Knicks were linked to was a potential deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers for point guard Ramon Sessions.

With the emergence of Jeremy Lin at the point, the addition of free-agent guard J.R. Smith and the return of Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks are fine as is.

Currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are going to continue to get better as the season progresses. Anthony will return to form in no time. He missed multiple weeks, so it was expected that he would be a little rusty in his first appearance back from a groin injury.

The Knicks lost to the Nets on Monday night, spoiling Anthony's return as well as the debut of Lin and Anthony finally playing together. 'Melo was only 4-of-11 from the field, and there were more than likely doubters that blamed him for the loss. Remember that New York was on a strong roll while Anthony was resting.

In time, though, the two stars will rise up for the Knicks and the team will keep winning. Sure, the bench isn't the best in the league, but it will suffice. With Baron Davis, Smith, Iman Shumpert, Steve Novak and Toney Douglas, there are plenty of skilled players that can help New York down the stretch.

The big key for the Knicks, though, is for their star players to thrive night in and night out. We already know that each and every player in the starting lineup is capable of doing big things, so the more this team practices with everyone the better off the Knicks will be.
