Deron Williams Gets Payback on Jeremy Lin in Nets' Win over Knicks

Deron Williams came into tonight's game with a chip on his shoulder after being the first victim of "Linsanity," when Jeremy Lin began his incredible streak on February 4 in the New York Knicks' win over the New Jersey Nets. 

But in the rematch tonight, it was Williams who played a game worth talking about. Williams scored a season-high 38 points against New York, knocking down eight three-pointers—which was a career high—en route to a 100-92 Nets' victory.

While Lin had a solid all-around game with 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, Williams overshadowed anything he did all night. D-Will took the game over in the third when he dropped 18 points on the sluggish Knicks' defense.

Williams has remained mum about Lin's impressive run, instead choosing to focus on the state of his own team.

“Why would we get excited about the Knicks? We're 8-21, I'm worried about us, not what Jeremy Lin's doing,” he said.

Along with his 38, Williams did a great job running the Nets' offense with six assists, and he abused the Knicks down low with the help of Kris Humphries, who had 14 points on the night. Humphries is becoming a double-double machine and then some.

Humphries played an aggressive, tough game and even made Tyson Chandler lose his cool at one point. It led to a huge technical foul against the Knicks' center that helped halt a New York drive that was building momentum for a comeback.

MarShon Brooks contributed early, finishing with 18 points. DeShawn Stevenson is making the most of the opportunity to start for New Jersey as he added 14 points and a solid defensive effort against Carmelo Anthony.
