WWE Draft 2012 Reportedly Returning in April on Raw, but Why?

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

After an excellent Elimination Chamber event, it is time to look forward to WrestleMania. With this business that never stops, you can't dwell on the past for too long before moving ahead.

After WrestleMania, WWE may feel the need to shakes things up again!

According to this report from LordsofPain.net, plans are for the WWE Draft to take place on April 23, 2012. That is a Monday night in Detroit, Michigan.

First, I must mention the city. If I recall, the exact same city also hosted the draft in 2004. For some reason, I remember that specific detail, but please let me know if I'm incorrect.

Second, I love the timing.

It will "start the new year" in WWE and will allow proper time to end major feuds. Whether that takes place at Mania in Miami or at the following PPV event (six days after the draft), it won't matter.

Men (and women) will go their separate ways, and the aftermath of the biggest event of the year will be felt. The same as every year, the weeks after WrestleMania just feel empty.

Finally, I must mention one little problem with this if it happens.

Can we get back to an actual brand split?

Having a "Super Show" every week is not going to mean a whole lot with another draft happening. If some WWE talents want to appear on both shows, then I am fine with it.

However, there just seems to be no structure with the rosters right now, and I believe the ongoing Teddy Long and Johnny Ace feud will settle that.

Keep SmackDown talent on Friday nights. Keep Raw talent on Mondays.

If a special reason is given for a Super Show, then that is perfectly acceptable.

As for predictions on who changes shows?

I am not big on "fantasy booking," but I am nearly positive John Cena isn't going to the Blue Brand. Several fans will want it, but that just isn't smart business. He is, by far, the top name in the industry, and he needs to be on the live show seen by the largest audience.

If I had to make one guess, it would be the man who I have been saying for months will call for a change. Feel free to check my archives on this individual, but I have been very consistent with my view on him.

That's right: The Miz is going to SmackDown.

I am not going to say he "needs" to, but he is one of the few men who must have a change of scenery soon. Whether it is also followed by a face turn or not, I see Mike "The Miz" Mizanin having a huge year for the Blue Brand in 2012!

Who do you folks, think? Should the WWE Draft even take place? If so, who will move shows? Does it even matter anymore? Let me know below...
