WWE News: Rumored Date for 2012 WWE Draft Revealed

Drake OzJun 1, 2018

The WWE is in desperate need of some major roster shakeups, but with WrestleMania 28 right around the corner, RAW and SmackDown will stay as they are for the foreseeable future.

That doesn’t mean changes aren’t in sight, though.

Every year since 2002 (except for 2003), the company has held its annual WWE draft to freshen things up and build toward some new feuds, and despite the new RAW Supershow format, it looks like we’ll be seeing some superstars switch brands once again in 2012. And it’ll happen relatively soon.

The 2012 WWE Draft will reportedly take place on the April 23rd three-hour RAW Supershow from Detroit, Michigan.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise because since 2009, the WWE has held its draft immediately after WrestleMania.

Obviously, that’s a smart decision because by the time the biggest pay-per-view of the year is over and done with, all feuds on both RAW and SmackDown have pretty much been exhausted, and holding the draft right after the show is equivalent to starting a new season in the NFL—new-look teams, new rivalries, new contenders and new pretenders.

I’m particularly anxious for the WWE draft this year because there aren’t many fresh feuds left on either brand right now (and definitely won’t be after WrestleMania). So, the WWE has a golden opportunity this April to make some substantial alterations to both brands.

We have no way of knowing which stars will swap shows in the 2012 WWE draft, but I’m hoping that Vince McMahon and the creative team make some major changes that drastically alter the makeup of both brands.

I’m talking huge changes like John Cena and The Miz moving to SmackDown, Sheamus or Randy Orton moving to RAW or something along those lines. We need more balance between the two brands, and the company has to be able to put on new feuds until the 2013 WWE draft.

Unless some very noticeable alterations are made in 2012 draft, though, that’s not going to happen.
