Rajon Rondo Could Face Suspension for Ejection Last Night vs. Pistons

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

The Boston Celtics' season could get much worse before it gets better.

Last night's embarrassing loss to the Detroit Pistons is not only their fifth loss in their last six games, but it could cost them their star point guard.

According to NBA Insider A. Sherrod Blakely, the NBA is reviewing whether or not Rajon Rondo's two technicals and subsequent ejection merit further punishment.

Rondo was T'd up twice in a span of five seconds after Greg Monroe landed on him and there was no call. He then started yelling at the referee before tossing the basketball at him from a short distance away.

The second loss to the Pistons in less than a week truly highlights how ugly things have gotten for this once proud basketball team. Boston is 15-15 on the year and Rondo's play has been very inconsistent since his return from injury.

In the Celtics' lone win in the past six games, the point guard went off for a triple-double, but in two of the losses he combined to score only 10 points. Calling Rondo's play inconsistent would be an understatement.

Ironically enough, the Celtics are actually playing worse with Rondo on the floor. Boston won six of their eight games when he was out with an injury, but they're only 4-5 since his return.

It wouldn't be a shock if the league decided to suspend him, and maybe that's a blessing in disguise right now.
