Eagles Fans, Get Ready For A "Giant" Upset

G DJan 6, 2009

The roller coaster ride continues.

From a 2-3 start in which all three losses were by a total of 14 points to a 3-0 stretch, the Philadelphia Eagles have been on a roller coaster ride I'll never forget.

Following their three straight wins, the Eagles hit another bump in the road, going 0-2-1. Losing to their division rival, the New York Giants, tying with one of the worst teams in the National Football League, the Cincinnati Bengals, and getting smoked by the Baltimore Ravens. Wow.

McNabb benched.

I'd like to believe the benching of our quarterback benefited us in the highest way. Following the pine riding of McNabb, the Eagles won four out of their last five games, including wins over the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles had little hope heading into their final regular season game with Dallas.

We needed:

The Houston Texans to win: They did.
The Oakland Raiders to win: They did.
A win over the Dallas Cowboys: We did.

Somehow...some way, the Philadelphia Eagles' ride landed in the final wild card spot. But has the roller coaster ride come to an end?

Not even close.

I'm still shocked. We had every opportunity in the world to clinch the playoffs throughout the year, and we didn't.

We waited 'til the last game of the regular season to punch our ticket. Well, guess what—we did it. We pounded the Cowboys 44-6. Yes, I repeat: 44-6.

A trip to Minnesota was our only guarantee.

The Eagles defense dominated the game with a 26-14 outcome.

I'm still in shock we're here. I can't believe it. We shouldn't be, but somehow we are.

The Eagles head once again to New York to take on our division rival, the New York Giants. I've never been more confident in us like I am now. I don't know why, but I am. We are going to beat New York. We are going to the NFC Championship game, and we're going to win that too. I guarantee it.

I'd go as far as saying I believe the Eagles are honestly going to be crowned the 2009 Super Bowl Champs. Somehow this roller coaster ride will lead to fate. It has to.

I love our chances. No Tom Brady and the Patriots. No Peyton Manning and the Colts. We are going to win it all.

Is this our year? I think so.
