NBA Trade Rumors: Pau Gasol Would Bring Chicago Bulls an NBA Championship

Pau Gasol's future in Los Angeles is still very much up in the air.

While the Lakers wait to decide what they want to do with the All-Star power forward, the reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose is itching to see the Chicago Bulls take a stab at landing him. 

According to a report from Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com, Rose has gone to Bulls management that he is on board any deal that will bring Gasol to Chicago.

Derrick Rose has let it be known to Bulls management that we wants to play with Pau Gasol if Chicago is  able to swing a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers for the veteran power forward from Spain, a source close to Rose told SheridanHoops.com on Sunday.

“He hasn’t said so publicly, but he has made that known privately,” said the source, who spoke to SheridanHoops.com on condition of anonymity.

The Bulls look great this season. They are 26-8 and boast one of the best defenses in the league. But they still need to have another dominant offensive presence to complement Rose. 

Gasol is the perfect fit for what the Bulls want to do. He can play in the post, or shoot the ball 15 to 18 feet from the basket. 

As great as Rose already is, Gasol can make him even better. He will give them the versatility that they lack on offense. 

Spanish website Marca.com reports that a package would likely be built around Carlos Boozer. That would be a win-win for the Bulls, because they get rid of his huge salary and upgrade the power forward position in the process. 

While the Bulls are already title contenders as presently constructed, there are some tweaks that can be made to give them a clear, distinct advantage over Miami, Boston, New York, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City when the playoffs begin. 

Gasol is the answer that they have been searching for. They just have to figure out a way to make it work with the stubborn Lakers before the March 15 trade deadline.
