Rajon Rondo Video: Watch Boston Celtics PG Get Ejected vs. Detroit Pistons
Referees don't like it when things are thrown at them, which is why Rajon Rondo had an early exit in the Boston Celtics' Sunday night game against the Detroit Pistons.
In the third quarter, Rondo went up for a shot and had a Pistons player basically land on his head. The Celtics' star point guard thought he was fouled, but after no call was made, he got visibly upset.
The loss of Rondo was a huge blow to the Celtics, who ended up losing 96-81.
This marked the third straight loss for Boston, as well as the fifth loss in six games.
Sure, the Celtics were already down by 12 points, but Rondo has helped lead the team to come-from-behind victories before. With an entire quarter still to play, the Celtics weren't out of it, especially given the way the Pistons have played at times during the season.
With Kevin Garnett and Brandon Bass out of the game, the Celtics were relying on Rondo to carry the load. Despite being in a hole, Boston still had a chance. Of course, that went out the window once Rondo got ejected.
The Celtics' next three games are all away from home, and they won't be easy either. The All-Star break does give them plenty of rest before the third road game, but the two leading up to the break are going to be very difficult.
On Monday, Boston has to play at the Dallas Mavericks and on Wednesday, the Celtics must play at the Oklahoma City Thunder.
These two games will be extremely important, as it could dictate what the Celtics decide to do moving forward. Should Boston lose both games, which is likely, the Celtics might be more open to a big trade since things clearly won't be going well.
Boston will have to make sure all of its players are ready to go and that none of them get into any trouble with the refs in these next couple games because the Celtics really need some wins.
