NBA Trade Rumors: Milwaukee Bucks Must Trade Disgruntled Stephen Jackson

Timothy RappFeb 19, 2012

Stephen Jackson wants out of Milwaukee. The Bucks should oblige him.

We get the following from Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD:

"

Less than halfway through his first season in Milwaukee, Jackson is already tired of the organization and wants a trade. He’s not hiding his frustration and admits that he wants to be dealt before the trade deadline.

This isn't one of those, "Sources indicate Jackson is unhappy with his playing time" situations. Jackson came right out and said it.

"

“It’s very difficult,” Jackson said. “I’m going from playing 38 minutes each game and being one of the top guys in minutes played over the last five years to not playing at all. It’s tough. The only thing that I can do is worry about what I can control and that’s trying to be a professional and keep supporting the young guys.

"

Jackson is a veteran player who many of the young Bucks look up to, so, although he said he's tried to avoid being a distraction for the team, this sort of talk inevitably makes him a distraction. And frankly, the 12-18 Bucks could use a few things, but a distraction isn't one of them.

Of course, if they do decide to move Jackson, they should find interest around the league, including in New Jersey, where the Nets desperately need an upgrade at the small forward position.

And Jackson could be an interesting addition to the Nets, especially if they are able to acquire Dwight Howard in a trade this season to pair with Deron Williams and potentially Jackson.

It's hard to blame Jackson for being upset with his drastic cut in minutes—he's averaged 37.3 minutes per game in his career but is getting 21.3 in Milwaukee—and its hard to find a scenario where keeping him makes sense for the Bucks.

Clearly, head coach Scott Skiles is more interested in getting the young guys on the Bucks more minutes than he cares to give Jackson. So they might as well get something out of Jackson.

Even if it's another player.
