NHL Trade Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Should Pass on Rick Nash
Philadelphia must show no love to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Trading for Rick Nash seems like a no-brainer for the Flyers, but not so fast. Right now, Philly is at a point where the Blue Jackets’ asking price is far too high for the five-time All-Star.
CSN’s Tim Panaccio reported that the Blue Jackets are indeed dangling Nash in front of the Flyers’ face tweeting:

"One more time. CBJ is pushing Nash to Flyers. Not other way around. Although flyers would like to upgrade in goal even in backup
"
But as convenient as being offered such an immense talent sounds, Columbus’ offer is too greedy at the moment for the Flyers to pull the trigger and not take a step back for it.
TSN’s Darren Dreger reported the wealth of talent that the Blue Jackets are demanding in return for Nash tweeting:
"Price too high for Flyers(at moment) for Nash.May re-engage later. JVR,Bobrovski, Schenn or Couturier believed to be part of asking price.
"
That is what you call selling the farm.
James van Reimsdyk is a former second overall pick and he’s 22 years old, while Sergie Bobrovsky out of Russia is only 23. The two variables: Brayden Schenn is a former fifth overall pick and 20, while Sean Couturier was selected eighth overall and is 19. That is too much promise to be throwing away for a player who’s good, but has never scored more than 79 points in a season.
Right now, Philadelphia is in fourth place at 32-19 and that’s in the weaker conference. Nash alone isn’t guaranteed to push Philly over the top. Failing to take home the Stanley Cup this season would be disastrous after such a swap.
Putting all of their eggs in one basket, selling the farm to win now, would hurt the Flyers' future significantly.
