Kobe Bryant: Black Mamba Reportedly Scrambling to Save Marriage

David DanielsFeb 19, 2012

Kobe Bryant isn’t interested in being the next Tiger Woods.

The Black Mamba apparently cherishes his marriage after all, and he is doing everything in his power to persuade Vanessa to give him just one more shot. And once again, he’s pulling the big guns out of the arsenal: shiny, expensive gifts.

According to TMZ, Pau Gasol isn’t the only person he’s attempting to keep in Hollywood. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is shifting his recruiting priorities away from Dwight Howard and has reportedly promised Vanessa that he’ll never cheat on her again. To convince her of his dedication, Bryant took a trip to the jewelry store.

Considering Kobe gifted a $4 million ring in order to make up for the rape accusations, you could make an educated guess that he nearly broke the bank this time around, too.

The report also notes that sources close to the couple believe that they still love one another and that it wouldn’t be shocking if Vanessa withdrew the divorce papers.

Outside the lines, Bryant may be distraught, but you can’t tell with the way he’s been performing on the court. He is currently leading the NBA in scoring with 28.9 points per game, after an offseason where the vast majority of so-called experts guaranteed a steep decline for the 33-year-old.

While he’s had his fair share of why-in-the-world-would-you-take-that-shot moments, the now 18-12 Lakers would be absolutely lost without his scoring this season.

Kobe is a busy man. As he tries to win his sixth NBA Championship, he’s tiresomely attempting to win back his wife’s trust.
