Phil Mickelson Video: Watch Lefty Retrieve His Ball from Fan's Shorts

Phil Mickelson is one of the most popular golfers on the PGA Tour, and he proved why again with one of the wildest scenarios I have ever seen on a golf course.

After hitting his tee shot into the gallery at the 2012 Northern Trust Open, Mickelson walked down the fairway only to see a man lying on the ground with his ball in his shorts.

This is not a joke.

While there have been a few times in the past where Mickelson has really hit a fan with the ball, you can only imagine how relieved he was when the man laying on the ground was just lazy instead of injured.

What got me really laughing is the fact that by the time Mickelson actually got to the site of his ball in another manโ€™s shorts, the official had already formulated a plan to get them out of this predicament.

After reaching into the manโ€™s cargo shorts and grabbing back his ball, Lefty couldnโ€™t help but smile at the fact that his day hadnโ€™t gone exactly how he planned. Going from a tournament win to fishing balls out of lazy onlookerโ€™s trousers was not on the agenda.

Thankfully, the man was just fine and Lefty even thought him kind enough to sign his signature glove for his troubles. I would have personally used that glove to slap some sense into the man who was laying down while this event was going on. How lazy can you be?

Despite the slight hiccup, this was a classy move in what could be the oddest shot in golf history.
