FC Barcelona vs. Valencia: How Barca Can Win the Match

FC Barcelona is going to face Valencia today at another La Liga match. According to the statistics of La Liga (published in ESPN Soccernet), Barca is behind first-place Real Madrid with 48 points.

Valencia is close to Barca with 40 points, which puts them in third place. While there are predictions of a victory by Barca, Valencia should not be underestimated as an opponent.

The Problem

FC Barcelona is a powerful team and had some victories in the 2011-2012 Copa Del Rey and UEFA Champions League. The problem lies in that some of their matches against opponents have ended in ties such as Espanyol or the goalless match against Villareal.

It appears that FC Barcelona concentrates on matches against Real Madrid and in the UEFA Champions League. When the matches are against other clubs in La Liga, Barca has the tendency to be complacent, make mistakes and concede plays to the opponent.

The complacency may involve poor play such as defense and offense. The same mistake has been made in the match against Club Atletico Bilbao which resulted in a tie.

Barca has not been helped by losing to Osasuna in a match that should have been won. The same applies to the match against Getafe.

The next problem have been the injuries of players such as Xavi and Iniesta.

The Solution

La Blaugrana have to look at every match like it is the FIFA World Cup and/or the UEFA Champions League. No opponent big or small should be underestimated.

Their defense and offense must be tightened against opponents. The 4-3-3 formation can be used with great results.

The goalkeeper (regardless of whether it is Victor Valdes or Pinto) has to be on the alert. It is easier said than done.

It is hoped that FC Barcelona could save what remains of La Liga. For that to occur, Barca will have to win every match.

While I am a Barca supporter who attempts to be real about the current situation, there is a part of me that believes that anything is possible.
