Euro 2012: Top 10 Performers We Want to See at Opening Ceremony

Thomas AtzenhofferMay 31, 2018

The 2012 UEFA European Championships are swiftly approaching their opening ceremony slated to start on June 8, 2012 in Warsaw, Poland.

One of the biggest questions on the minds of fans is who will be performing.

Enrique Iglesias took the lead in 2008 and will likely be in the stands for this one seeing who has been drafted in as his successor.

While some are logical choices, others are ones that could be a major hit if they were ever selected.

Ewa Farna

1 of 11

Currently one of Poland's most popular acts, Ewa Farna, would certainly turn heads at the opening ceremony.

Muse

2 of 11

British rock group Muse has been around nearly 20 years with a major European following and a love of the game from their native homeland.

Nyusha

3 of 11

Normally I would pick talent, performance, presence and overall like-ability to a selection.

However, Russian beauty and pop starlet Nyusha would be a treat to watch.

Alexandra Stan

Another fine lady that could lead the night is Romanian singer Alexandra Stan.

Voted a winner of the 2011 Border Breakers Award as well as the best Romanian performer in Europe by the 2011 MTV Europe Awards she is on fine on the old continent.

Linkin Park

5 of 11

Voted the best live act in Europe, Linkin Park is certainly capable of writing a great opening theme for the competition but also would attract a large additional European fan base to Poland and Hungary.

Lena Meyer-Landrut

6 of 11

Germany could use a boost as they have come up just short in the last few major tournaments in Europe and the World.

Perhaps the nation's youngest "Queen of Pop" could help lift their spirits in neighboring Poland for their hopeful run at another UEFA European Championship.

After all she was named the best European act of 2011 by MTV Europe.

Coldplay

7 of 11

British band Coldplay not only hail from the cradle of the beautiful game, but they are one of the best live acts in Europe.

Their blend of pop and rock could lends itself to all types of fans and tastes and would be a great all around act for the opening ceremony.

The Foo Fighters

8 of 11

One of America's biggest rock bands, the Foo Fighters have a massive European following and would perhaps help to draw even more fans to the UEFA European Championship.

30 Seconds to Mars

9 of 11

Jared Leto is one of the best front men on the planet and 30 Seconds to Mars can put on a fantastic show that would excite the crowd.

Their song "Closer to the Edge," would be a great theme song for the summer.

"U2"

10 of 11

Its Europe, who doesn't love Bono and his merry group of Irishmen.

On top of that the Irish are finally in a European Championship and why not give the Shamrock Isle a nod with their nations greatest act.
