Arsenal-Birmingham: Game Preview
Another Saturday, and another Premiership game for the Arsenal.
It's Birmingham away today, in what could be an important game, we did drop points in the return fixture just a little while ago. Birmingham though, are just shy of the drop zone, but there's no room for complacency!
We will have Ade and Hleb back in the squad after the both of them received knocks in the CL game midweek, and that's a good lift going in to this one. Almunia joins the squad for this one too, after sitting the midweek Milan fixture. Wenger though is keeping his cards close to his chest when asked about who will start in goal today. He said-
"Come to the game tomorrow and you will see."
Well that can only mean that we will have to wait now, innit? Kolo and Eboue are the players who are missing from the team that played Milan. Speaking of injured Gunners, Wenger speaks about RVP, who has played just 3 games since October for us, I'm sure none of us are in no real shock when presented with this info. Wenger says that Robin could be back in training next week, but he is still doubtful over the Dutchman's return to the squad in time for the 2nd leg at the San Siro. Le Prof echoes what most of us think when he says that RVP's return could be just what we need in the run in to the Premiership.
"It could be a positive when he comes back," said the Frenchman. "It could give us the kind of push that is needed and we hope that happens soon."
Other long term injuries sees us without Tomas Rosicky, the Czech skipper, hope he returns to the squad soon. In other news, I'm sure all of you would be aware of the Arsenal's strong financial position. And The Boss goes on to elucidate whether he would prefer profits or trophies. What would you choose I wonder, what indeed? Arsene is really a fascinating character , I'm so glad he's at the Arsenal, wouldn't trade him in for anyone else! And we might be seeing a lot more of Le Prof at the Arsenal, that's if Edelman gets his way, all that and more here.
Arsenal have also made it clear that they will not like any sort of disharmony in the board room, as this will disrupt and distract they way we perform on the pitch. Usmanov is now the largest shareholder with 24.2 percent and needs 5.8 percent more to launch a formal takeover. I agree with arseblogger, all this Usmanov-Dein, shares and takeover nonsense is all a big pain in the arse, we could all do so much better just concentrating with matters on the pitch Why can't the likes of the money hungry Usmanov go and take a long hard look in the mirror, that should expedite suicide. Hate them, hate them all!!!
Well that's about all I have to say today. Before I though leave there has been some changes to the fixture list involving some important games too, you just might want to take a gander here .
3 Points will make for a really nice outing and lets hope that Man USA get a bit of a hiding by the Magpies today. So til tomorrow...
Let's go Gunners!!!
