Bulls Rumors: Chicago Must Sign Joel Przybilla If Miami Heat Acquire Chris Kaman

Jeff ChaseJun 5, 2018

With last year's MVP in point guard Derrick Rose experiencing back problems that have kept him off the floor, the Chicago Bulls need to make sure they continue to build their team to compete and contend with the likes of opponents such as the Miami Heat.

Speaking of the Heat, recent rumors have them linked to New Orleans center Chris Kaman. According to Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports:

"

Heat officials, including president Pat Riley, have been calling people who know Kaman to ask about him, a source told FOXSports.com on Wednesday.

While there hasn't been any official word on whether they are looking to trade for him or sign him if the team were to release him, the Heat's interest in a potential seven-footer should have the Bulls looking for an option of their own.

If the Bulls need to bolster their depth in height, they should turn to no other than free agent Joel Przybilla.

According to Sam Smith of Bulls.com:

"

I’m not sure anyone knows. The Bulls have worked him basically since the lockout ended and I’ve heard they continue to talk to him. It seems more now a question of whether he wants to play, which he is not sure about. He has moved back to Wisconsin and is a family guy and one of those rare players who apparently can live without the game. He knows the Bulls want him.

"

Przybilla stands at 7'1", and would give the Bulls some nice depth consider they don't have many big options. The Bulls frontcourt is relatively small with guys such as Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Taj Gibson all being under 6'11".

By no means would Przybilla be the savior for the Buls, but what he would do is become a serious obstacle for the any opposing big men that the Bulls would face in the playoffs. A guy like Omer Asik does have the size, but what he lacks in the experience.

He only averages four points a game over his career, and just 6.3 rebounds. The Bulls wouldn't expect him to contribute much offensively, but rather just be there as an experienced big man who can help control the paint against opposing forwards and centers.

Przybilla would also come in with 11 years of experience, which could be valuable against many team's secondary units. Especially if they are made up of veterans such as Kaman.

The team is playing just fine with Rose's absence, as they currently are sitting 25-7 and in first place in the Eastern Conference. The team though needs to be concerned with their opposition has planned, and they need to be ready to counter any move they make with one that is almost equivalent.
