Is LeBron James Second Guessing His Move to Miami?

Paul ShaiaFeb 20, 2012

Lebron James is a member of the Miami Heat. He will be until 2014 when he has a player option on his contract.

However, the Miami Heat fans do not deserve the same anxiety that Cleveland Cavaliers fans endured during the end of Lebron’s career in Cleveland.

Recently, James said he hoped the fans would welcome him back if he were ever to wear a Cavs uniform again, and that he and Dan Gilbert both made mistakes during that time span.

Yes, these are questionable statements to make under the scrutiny LeBron is under, but they should not have fueled the fire they have around Cleveland.

LeBron James thought he would be able to coast to an NBA championship last season. That did not happen as Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks defeated LeBron and the Heat in the NBA Finals.

Had LeBron stayed in Cleveland, the result would have ultimately been the same—if you’re not first you’re last.

Looking at the current rosters, the Cavaliers surprisingly seem to be in a better situation than the Heat for LeBron. He would make the Cavaliers a much better team than he is making the Heat this season.

With an influx of young talent in Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, along with sharpshooter Omri Casspi, hustle king Anderson Varejao and veteran Antonie Jamison, the Cavaliers could very easily make a run at the NBA championship with James added to the roster.

Understandably, Irving would not be on the team if James had stayed, but now the situation looks brighter in Cleveland for James than it did when he made "the decision.”

It is not surprising that he is second-guessing leaving his former team.

It is becoming very clear that LeBron James loves and needs attention. He has not gotten much this year, despite his outstanding numbers.

And, for maybe the first time in his career, LeBron is not the most entertaining topic in the NBA.

That is a good sign for the NBA moving forward, but it haunts LeBron. So, when he is due for a return to Cleveland and asked about a possible return, of course he will try to add fuel to the fire so people will talk about him once again.

LeBron will eventually be forced to make another decision when his contract expires.

But, for now, can we all just rest on the fact he left for greener pastures in Miami and he is coming to the realization that no matter what city you are in, winning an NBA championship takes hard work and closing in the fourth quarter.

This is something he will need to work on in order for Miami or Cleveland fans to celebrate a championship.
