UFC Undisputed 3: Downloadable Content That Leaves You Wanting More
UFC Undisputed 3 might just be the best fighting game ever made. It has updated graphics, a new submission system, a PRIDE mode that will make your face hurt with every soccer kick delivered and a roster of over 100 UFC fighters across seven weight classes.
Even with their impressive roster of fighters who were able to make the cut (no offense, Anthony Johnson), there are several UFC notables that aren't included in the game. Let's take a look at stars missing from the original roster, the downloadable content that is already available and future packs that are coming out.
Contenders Pack: Available Now
1 of 5Immediately aware of their roster flaws, the UFC announced that a Contenders Pack would be available with all pre-orders. The pack would include four UFC fighters who were all contenders in their division at the time of the announcement. Something happened to all of them since that time. The fighters included in that package are:
Nick Diaz - welterweight
Jason Miller - middleweight
Brian Stann - middleweight
Phil Davis - light heavyweight
Get the Reem: Available Now
2 of 5Alistair Overeem is one of the biggest Strikeforce acquisitions that the UFC has picked up. After quickly stopping Brock Lesnar in their December encounter, Overeem has penciled himself in for a heavyweight championship with with Junior dos Santos.
Demand for Overeem's inclusion in Undisputed 3 was so overwhelming, that the UFC has created a Get The Reem pack on the game's Facebook page.
Fight of the Night Pack: Available March 2012
3 of 5The next DLC pack that the UFC will be including features five younger UFC stars. Technically, it's four UFC stars and an unemployed fighter who can't make weight, but still. In March of 2012, download the Fight of the Night pack to get the following stars:
Joe Lauzon - Lightweight
Rory MacDonald - Welterweight
Charles Oliveira - Lightweight
Sam Stout - Lightweight
Anthony Johnson - Catchweight
OK. That time I meant it offensively. Anthony Johnson will be included in the game as a welterweight.
The International Pack: Available April 2012
4 of 5International fans bring in some of the biggest gates for the UFC, all over the world. Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil are just some of the countries that the UFC has traveled to and enjoyed tremendous success. It only seems fair to include some more international flavor in the game this time around.
Being released in April of 2012, make sure to pick up the International DLC pack, which features:
The Korean Zombie - Chan Sung Jung - Featherweight
United Kingdom - John Hathaway - Welterweight
Germany - Pascal Krauss -Welterweight
Austrailia - Kyle Noke - Middleweight
Italy - Alessio Sakara - Middleweight
Glaring Omissions
5 of 5What does Jake Ellenberger need to do to get a little bit of respect? The current No. 1 contender in the UFC's stacked welterweight division is on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC and has main-evented and won his last two bouts, winning both Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night awards in the process. Somehow, Ellenberger missed the Undisputed 3 cut, but with three DLC packages already created, it's easy to see him being in the game in the future.
Aside from Ellenberger, there are some stars who we absolutely have to see in the game this year. If I missed anyone, leave them in the comments below.
Jake Ellenberger - Welterweight - Overall record 27-5, six-fight win streak in the UFC
Ed Herman - Middleweight - Three-fight win streak (all wins by impressive stoppage)
Fabricio Werdum - Heavyweight - Won six of last eight (submitted Fedor Emelianenko in 69 seconds)
Johny Hendricks - Welterweight - shocked the world recently by KO'ing Jon Fitch in 12 seconds
Hatsu Hioki - Featherweight - Japanese import who is likely to challenge champion Jose Aldo soon
Alexander Gustafsson - Light Heavyweight - Swedish star currently preparing for his fight main event
