Klitschko vs. Chisora: British Heavyweight Guarantees Interesting Fight
Dereck Chisora is not the pushover that many would have you believe, but that hardly means he stands a chance against Vitali Klitschko on February 18th.
The world gets another heavyweight battle that will once again go to Klitschko in the ring. I am not enamored by the matchup, but not as displeased as others.
The brash British fighter Dereck Chisora brings a lot to the table in a bout against the Ukrainian legend. Chisora last fought undefeated Robert Helenius in a bout that ended in controversy.
The British fighter lost by split decision, although he contends he was far more aggressive and he landed more punches. In defeat comes a great deal of confidence in what he offers this particular fight.
Chisora will be in shape, as his last bout concluded in early December. He is a gamer that will fight until the last shred of energy is in him.
He can stay with Klitschko when it comes to aggressive and brutal power. This is not going to be a match dominated by standing near the ropes and hugging.
Chisora likes to mix it up and will contend with Klitschko or get knocked out trying. This is precisely why I have this boxing match pegged as a must-see event while others scoff at it as a boring snooze-fest that can be ignored.
While Klitschko will win the fight, it will at the very least be a bloody encounter that will leave every last fan exhausted from the brutal power of these exchanges.
Lennox Lewis even took time to weigh in and give a nod to Chisora. Via World Boxing News.
"Vitali is very good but Chisora has a chance. He is a heavyweight. All it takes is one punch on the chin to win. I always say if you walk into the ring you have to get wet. If he [Klitschko] is in the fight, in the ring, and he gets punched, there is a chance that he might get hurt or knocked out. It will be an interesting fight.
"
I don't share the entirety of Lewis' optimism, but Chisora does have a puncher's chance and that is all it will take to make this an entertaining fight.
Klitschko it the more skilled of the two and far more decorated, but Chisora will make it interesting, which is more than we can say about most heavyweight bouts nowadays.
