LeBron James: Why Cleveland Fans Would Welcome LeBron Back in a Heartbeat

"I think it would be great, it would be fun to play in front of these fans again...You can't predict the future...If I decide to come back, hopefully the fans will accept me."

With these comments, LeBron James has once again managed to put the sports world in a frenzy. The question fans are now all asking themselves: Would Cleveland accept their former king back?

Obviously, only Cleveland Cavaliers fans can know the hurt that LeBron James caused them on that fateful night where he decided to "take his talents to South Beach". On that night, the city of Cleveland lost one of the most beloved athletes in sports history, and within seconds LeBron James became one of the most hated athletes in history.

Fans removed their jerseys from their backs and burned them in the streets. The famous "We Are All Witnesses" image of LeBron James was taken down. The city of Cleveland attempted to purge themselves of everything associated with their former King.

Not even LeBron James could believe how bad the backlash was.

With his comments today, LeBron has opened himself back up to the city of Cleveland. It would seem that LeBron would love a chance to come back and win a title for the Cavaliers. Is the feeling mutual though? Do Cavaliers fans want him back?

Obviously the answer from Cavaliers fans will be mixed. Half will say yes, half will say no, but it is impossible to predict how people will react until they are put into a certain situation.

I believe Cavaliers fans would welcome him back. As a Cavalier fan myself, I know that I would welcome LeBron back. Many fans will obviously argue that they would not welcome him back if the situation arose, but let me pose a hypothetical question to all Cavaliers fans:

It has been 46 years since a Cleveland sports franchise has won a title. If LeBron returns and wins a championship, would you really not celebrate the title? Would you really not be happy that LeBron James came back and won the championship that the city of Cleveland so desperately desires?

Cleveland fans may never forgive LeBron James for what he did, but if he came back, they sure would be happy to see him.
