David Ade's Stuff I Wrote Today: Jeremy Lin (Is This Real Life?)

So here's my first installment of my new column Stuff I Wrote Today. If you think that you are here to read an objective news article, well that's not what you'll get. But hey, don't worry! I promise to try and make this column as consistent and fun as possible. Also, I won't be making ridiculous over the top claims and trade proposals, so that should make a handful of readers happy. 

Let's just get on with what is consuming my attention today. Uh, Jeremy Lin. Yeah, there's pretty much no other story in sports right now (joke). But really, is this real life? How is this guy's story possible? 

He's a Harvard graduate (only one currently in the NBA, and had no athletic scholarship offers out of high school), he's undrafted, he got cut twice this year alone, his parents immigrated from Taiwan (no other NBA player can say that), he was sleeping on Manhattan couches the past few weeks (he finally got an apartment), oh and he's led the struggling Knicks to a six-game winning streak and have them sitting in the Eastern Conference's eighth seed. 

I didn't even mention the ridiculous games he's had. The stat lines are purely mind-blowing:

Yes, the turnovers are alarming, but come on—that isn't enough to make you say "This guy isn't awesome." If it is, then I feel bad for your girlfriend because it must be impossible to make you happy. But here, this video to the side should make all those I offended happy again. 

As a small-town radio sports guy, I'm always looking for good human interest stories, and this, my friends, is a gold mine.This is simply sports at its finest, and is serving as an inspiration to people around the world. I cannot wait to see how this plays out again tonight.
