2012 MLB All-Star Game: Watch Royals' Great George Brett Discuss Game in KC

For the first time since the summer of 1973, Kaufman Stadium will once again be the site for the Midsummer Classic as the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game returns to Kansas City on July 10.

With the return of the All-Star game to Kansas City, there couldn’t be a better person to be the ambassador for the Royals than 13-time All-Star selection George Brett.

During his 21-year career in the majors, Brett was the greatest ever to play the game. The Hall of Famer amassed more than 3150 hits, which ranks him the best out of any third basemen in baseball history.

In addition to the most hits by a third basemen, Brett is also in a very small fraternity of Hank Aaron, Stan Musial and Willie Mays as the only players to hit 300 home runs, get 3000 hits and have a batting average above .300 for their career.

As an All-Star, Brett was selected to be a part of the National All-Star team for 13 straight years starting with the 1976 game in Philadelphia and ending in 1988 during the game in Cincinnati.

After a recent renovation, the Royals great would not recognize his old home field. Kaufman Stadium got a major $250 million facelift to the ballpark that was originally opened in 1973.

No matter who you root for this coming baseball season, the eyes of the baseball world will be focused on Kansas City this summer, instead of it being glanced over in the sports pages.
