Davonte Neal: 5-Star WR Should Stay in State and Choose Arizona
The last remaining 5-star recruit, wide receiver Davonte Neal, has narrowed his choices down to four schools: Arizona, Notre Dame, Arkansas and North Carolina.
And Neal—currently a student at Scottsdale Chaparral High in Arizona—should stay in state to seriously bolster Rich Rodriguez's first recruiting class.
But first, about those four schools, from Richard Obert of AZCentral.com:
"Luke Neal said his son won't look beyond the four schools he has narrowed it to: Arizona, Arkansas, North Carolina and Notre Dame.
"
And just in case you are a fan of one of those teams, you get to wait another week to find out if Neal chose your school, according to Obert. Hooray!
"Neal won't narrow his list any before Feb. 21 when he plans to sign his letter of intent at the same time he announced his college choice during a news conference at his former Ahwatukee elementary school.
"
For what it's worth, Obert believes Neal has in actuality narrowed his choices down to two schools, not four.
But if he is still considering Arizona, that should be his choice. He has the opportunity to help Rich Rodriguez rebuild the Wildcats' football program and serve as an early ambassador for the rebuilding effort.
He'll probably see a lot more playing time early on in Arizona than he would at either of the other schools on his list.
He could join two of his Chaparral High teammates already heading to the Wildcats, defensive end Dylan Cozens and linebacker Cody Ippolito.
And he could hold it down for his home state. What ever happened to state pride, am I right?
Okay, so his decision shouldn't come down to state pride. But there are plenty of other valid reasons why Arizona is the right place for Davonte Neal.
