Jorge Arce vs. Lorenzo Parra: Preview, Start Time, Predictions and Schedule
After a brief three-month layoff, Jorge Arce is stepping back into the boxing ring on Saturday night to to challenge Lorenzo Parra.
Arce will be out for revenge in this fight. The only blemish on his record since the start of 2010 was a draw againat Parra in September of that year. He has gone 7-0-1 during that time and won three titles along the way.
Parra is trying to get his career back on track. He is coming off a loss last June to Anselmo Moreno. In that fight, he was manhandled early before calling it quits after the eighth round.
He needs a strong showing against Arce to prove he is still serious about being a top contender.
Where: Palenque de la Feria, Durango, Durango, Mexico
When: Saturday, Feb. 18
What's At Stake?
Arce is looking for blood. He wants to prove that the draw he had against Parra 18 months ago was nothing more than a fluke. It was his ego that led him to seek out this fight, so he can't afford to look bad.
Parra's stock has never been lower. He has fallen off a cliff in a hurry, and doesn't show the desire to pick up the pieces. He is only getting this fight because Arce asked for it. He needs to show something in this fight to elevate his stock.
Arce's Keys to Victory
Attack early and often, and don't allow Parra to find any kind of comfort zone.
He is going to sting Parra early in this fight, and he has to keep up the attack. His draw in their last fight was disappointing, but he is a better boxer now because of it. He has been showing more precision in his striking and his power has always been good.
Arce needs to utilize that power in this fight to prove he deserved to win the first fight and is the superior fighter that we all know him to be.
Parra's Keys to Victory
Show up in shape, and act like you want to be there.
While Parra is not in Arce's class as a fighter anymore, he is still young enough to be a quality boxer. He just doesn't seem to care very much about his career anymore.
Even if he doesn't win the fight, he can stop making a spectacle out of his fading career by bringing his best effort to the match.
Prediction
There is no reason to think that Arce is going to lose this fight. Unless Parra can somehow land one strong punch that knocks him down, Arce will cruise to victory.
Arce wins via sixth-round TKO
