WWE Elimination Chamber 2012 Predictions: Undercard Bouts That Will Complete PPV

Mike ChiariJun 2, 2018

With just four matches set for Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, there figures to be quite a few surprise bouts. The WWE has made a habit of putting unadvertised matches on pay-per-view cards, so Sunday likely won't be any different.

In a way, unadvertised matches are cool because they can be a nice surprise for the viewers, but they can also suffer from lack of build-up. Even so, the two Chamber matches, John Cena vs. Kane and Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka, won't be enough to sufficiently fill up the time.

Here are three potential undercard matches that will round out Sunday's pay-per-view.

Primo and Epico vs. The Usos

WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Epico have already had some unadvertised matches on pay-per-views over the past couple months, so odds are that will be the case again on Sunday. The company's tag-team division is severely lacking talent and depth right now, with the exception of the titleholders. Primo and Epico work very well together, and the presence of Rosa as their manager makes them a very complete and exciting team.

There are almost no legitimate contenders for Primo and Epico to face, though, with The Usos being the only logical choice. The Usos have a nice gimmick and can be an exciting team if given more opportunities to prove themselves. They're one of only two true teams in the WWE, so this is pretty much the only tag match that can happen. Look for Primo and Epico to retain in what figures to be an underrated contest.

Jack Swagger vs. Santino Marella

Since beating Zack Ryder for the United States Championship several weeks ago, Jack Swagger has been used quite sparingly on television, being utilized mostly on Superstars. Since he isn't in the Raw Chamber match, though, it makes sense for him to defend his belt at the pay-per-view. There is a serious lack of potential challengers with the main-event and mid-card talent being in the Chamber match, so Santino is a possibility.

The two locked horns on Superstars just last week, and he is the only face that appears on WWE programming regularly who could face Swagger. Obviously, Swagger wouldn't be in any danger of losing the title, and this likely wouldn't be any more than a five-minute filler match, but it would be nice to make the United States Championship look important by having Swagger score a PPV win.

Brodus Clay vs. David Otunga

For the past couple weeks, the red-hot "Funkasaurus" Brodus Clay has been relegated to dark matches rather than appearing on Raw or SmackDown. Clay had been having squash matches on both shows on a weekly basis as his off-the-wall, but entertaining character began to take off. It's difficult to say why Clay hasn't been shown recently, but I have to believe it is so the creative team can think of something for him other than squash matches.

Clay made quick work of Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble, so it would make sense for him to make an appearance at Elimination Chamber. He could also use a slightly higher level of competition, so David Otunga seems like a nice opponent. Otunga isn't a star by any means, but he appears on Raw every week and has some name recognition, so he would be the perfect superstar to feed to the Funkasaurus.
