Philadelphia Eagles: Is Randy Moss a Viable Wideout Option?
Although DeSean Jackson is expected to receive the franchise tag, the Philadelphia Eagles are also back-up planning to avoid finding themselves with a depleted receiving corps. There is a decent group of wide receivers who will run out of contracts. However, it’s hard to guess who will be available when the free agency kicks off.
A new possible target came out today. Randy Moss expressed his desire to return to the NFL, ending his brief retirement.
The 35-year-old footballer had a disordered 2010 season with Patriots trading him to the Vikings, who waived him in less than a month’s time. He ended up in Tennessee with the Titans. In eight games with the Titans, Moss had only six receptions for 80 yards and scored no touchdowns. He was not re-signed and he announced his retirement in August 2011.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It seems Moss had enough time to fix things and since he no longer has off-field issues (the reason that forced him to retire), he decided to return. He uploaded a video, stating “I wanna go to a team and play some football…Your boy be back for the upcoming season."
Moss is tied with Terrell Owens in the second place for career receiving touchdowns, with a total of 153. Nevertheless, his glory days are far behind him.
The Eagles might need to sign a free agent receiver to replace DeSean Jackson, but that guy shouldn’t be Moss. Despite his indisputable status of a future Hall-of-Famer, I find it impossible to believe that Moss can be a proper fix for most NFL teams.
The Eagles are not a middle of the pack franchise, and an ugly season doesn’t change that. Expectations are high, and signing Moss will be another Steve Smith-like addition: all hype and no real gain.
Honestly, Philadelphia needs something better than a rusty veteran with obnoxious demeanor who, outside of his football achievements, is also known for his legal struggles. I become quite flustered thinking the Eagles might go after Plaxico Burress—Randy Moss is a worse nightmare.
