Report: Manny Pacquiao May Retire After Tim Bradley Fight

Justin TateFeb 12, 2012

Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO) has stated that his upcoming June 9 welterweight (147 lbs.) battle with undefeated Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KO) on HBO Pay-Per-View may be his last.

According to an interview with ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao is contemplating giving up professional boxing to pursue being a Bible Ambassador.

Pacquiao says he reportedly has changed his ways from gambling, drinking and womanizing. There were reports last month concerning Pacquiao's renewed faith in God, but this is the first of him possibly retiring this year.

Past reports have seen Pacquiao set 2013 as a deadline for retirement. This latest development potentially moves up when Pacquiao could exit the ring and terminate any plans to continue negotiations for potentially the biggest fight in boxing history against Floyd Mayweather (42-0, 26 KO).

Whether these reports are merely posturing to help bring urgency to the negotiating table the next time the camps of Mayweather and Pacquiao come together to iron out a deal is uncertain at this time.

The two boxing icons have failed to secure a fight since they began negotiating November of 2009 following Pacquiao's TKO victory over Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 KO).
