Brodus Clay: Funkasaurus Not Funky Anymore?
On the January 9th episode of RAW, Brodus Clay finally re-debuted after weeks of his return being postponed by the executive vice...blah, blah, John Laurinaitis.
While we expected him to return as a monster heel as it was quite evident from the video packages that hyped his return, his return was, to say the least, interesting.
Billed from Planet Funk, Clay was back with a funky, fun-loving dance gimmick, Brodus Clay came dancing down the ramp with an absolutely awesome theme song, "Somebody Call My Momma."

Along with him, he had FCW talents Naomi and Cameron dancing with him. Then, over the next two weeks, he proceeded to demolish every superstar he faced faster than the time he took to make his entrance.
A fresh change it was, wasn't it?
In the past couple of weeks, the inventor of the "What the Funk" finisher has taken a backseat. Clay has not appeared on the past three shows in a row. In fact, his match against Heath Slater was edited out of the February 3 episode of SmackDown due to time constraints.
When a superstar's match is edited out in favour of a fart promo from Natalya, it obviously isn't a good sign.
It seems pretty obvious that the WWE creative team can't find anything for Brodus Clay as of now.
All he has done so far is squashing the likes of Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater, the resident kings of Jobberville, and appearing on a dance off, which somehow, was funny.
While it was alright for the first couple of weeks as they needed to establish Clay, he needed a proper feud. Which obviously hasn't happened. I mean, for how long can a superstar continue to win squash matches without actually proving anything?
The dancing and gyrating was all fun, and still is, but unless Clay has a serious contender to compete with, he's not going to be taken seriously.
With WrestleMania approaching, I think Clay will, sadly, be lost in the shuffle. At the best I see him competing in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but that will be it.
Clay really seems to be enjoying his character and so do we. I really hope WWE can find him a good storyline soon.
Or they might just have to call his momma to take him back home...
What's the problem with John Cena?
