TNA: Against All Odds 2012 Preview & Predictions

Charlie GJun 6, 2018

TNA Wrestling and Direct Auto Insurance present Against All Odds, live this Sunday, February 12. Against All Odds will be live from Universal Studios Orlando, Florida.

There are seven matches announced for the event. Four of those seven are championship matches.

Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Gail Kim and the team of Matt Morgan and Crimson will all put their gold on the line.

Tune into Against All Odds live this Sunday to see IMPACT stars such as Bobby Roode, James Storm, Bully Ray, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Alex Shelley, Samoa Joe, Gail Kim, Gunner and more!

Zema Ion vs. Jesse Sorensen

1 of 8

I feel like this can be a good match to kick off this pay-per-view event. Some nice X Division action between two top, young wrestlers with a championship match on the line.

It has had little to no build leading into the event, but I’m definitely looking forward to this match.

I find it a bit obvious, and I’m basing this prediction off of my predicted winner of the Shelley/Aries match later on in the card.

Jesse Sorensen has definitely been one of the more successful X Division wrestlers since the Destination X Tournament. He’s had several pay-per-view matches and X Division championship matches coming into this one.

Sorensen has clearly had a better push than Zema Ion since both of their debuts, and I expect Sorensen to be in line for a championship match come Victory Road.

Predicted Winner: Jesse Sorensen

Gunner vs. Garett Bischoff

2 of 8

I think we can all agree that no matter the outcome, Gunner is the loser.

Seriously, he defeated past World Champions, such as Sting, AJ Styles and Mr. Anderson. Now he’s feuding with a former referee turned wrestler and “Hulkamania” Hulk Hogan. To make matters worse, this match was added at the last second.

This match was added to the card this past week, and we’ve already seen Gunner "job out" to Garett on two occasions. We’ve also seen Gunner get beaten up by Hulk Hogan.

The curious case of Gunner is going to continue after Against All Odds. If he loses, he looks even weaker than he did on Thursday. If he wins, congrats he beat a referee. Even if he wins, I’m sure Eric Bischoff will have some sort of big assist after the match.

Predicted Winner: Garett Bischoff

Tara vs. Gail Kim

3 of 8

We’ve seen these two battle it out in the ring not too long ago—about two weeks ago in Wembley, right? Tara won because Madison Rayne accidentally punched Gail Kim, which lead to a Widow’s Peak.

This past Thursday, we’ve seen Gail Kim attack Tara and leave her laid out.

I’m hoping Tara wins because I think Gail Kim’s reign as champion is getting boring. She barely wrestles on IMPACT and really only works from pay-per-view to pay-per-view.

Even if Gail wins, I have no idea who she’ll face at Victory Road. I think giving Tara the belt will open up more options for challengers and more entertaining feuds.

Predicted Winner: New Champion, Tara

Alex Shelley vs. Austin Aries

4 of 8

Earlier in this article, I predicted Jesse Sorensen to be the next number one contender for the X Division belt. I expect him to be the face in the feud against the champion, who will most likely be heel.

Giving Alex Shelley the title wouldn’t make much sense. The guy just recently returned. Aries has been champion since No Surrender, which took place in September.

Aries is the “greatest man that ever lived,” and I feel like Chris Sabin is going to return sometime soon. Shelley may just be warming up fans before the big MCMG return.

Shelley has had no build that makes me think he’ll dethrone Aries. Sorensen, though, does have that potential.

Jesse Sorensen has been build up as a credible threat since his debut. Sorensen, in my mind, is the only guy on the roster that can realistically beat Aries. Sorensen has had X Division title matches against Aries in the past, but never one-on-one.

I think Shelley is going to lose, MCMG will be back soon and Jesse Sorensen will step up to eventually defeat Austin Aries.

Predicted Winner: Still Champion, Austin Aries

Kazarian vs. AJ Styles

5 of 8

This has potential to be match of the night. AJ and Kazarian are two of TNA’s best in-ring workers, and I can’t wait for this one. My only issue is Daniels at ringside.

We all know about the angle right now between these three. Kazarian is doing everything Daniels tells him to for some unknown reason. Daniels is using Kazarian to attack longtime foe, AJ Styles.

I’m sure we’ll see Daniels get involved in the match somehow.

I can see this match going on perfectly. Nice and clean, until Daniels gets involved. He’ll either toss some weapon to Kazarian for use, or simply take AJ out on his own.

To sum it up, I see this feud continuing into Victory Road, and possibly into Lockdown.

Predicted Winner: Kazarian

Magnus & Samoa Joe vs. Crimson & Matt Morgan

6 of 8

This team of Crimson & Morgan just haven’t been cutting it as of late. I’m finding the combo of Magnus & Joe far more entertaining, interesting, fun and overall better.

Magnus brought up a good point on IMPACT this week. He said, “The only reason those two are a team is because they’re too scared to fight each other.”

Every week since Genesis, we’ve seen Magnus and Joe one-up the champions. They have laid them out in the past and buried them in promos. It’s like Magnus & Joe are the champions just without the belts (much like Bobby Roode pre-BFG).

I think Magnus & Joe will win (clean or not), and we’ll see some tension between Crimson and Morgan afterward. Magnus and Joe will continue to feud with Morgan & Crimson until the Machine Guns return, or until one of the two (Crimson) will turn heel on his partner.

Predicted Winner: New Champions, Magnus & Samoa Joe

Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm vs. Bully Ray vs. Bobby Roode

7 of 8

I’m going to start by saying, I believe Bully Ray or Bobby Roode are the only two with a real chance of winning.

Jeff Hardy hasn’t appeared on IMPACT in two weeks, and it’d be beyond stupid to give him the belt. The guy hasn’t been seen in two weeks, not good.

James Storm is “injured.” He’s got his ribs all taped up and has been beaten by Roode and Ray for weeks now.

Bully Ray, this past week, really increased his odds in this match. Walking out on Roode was a big way of showing that it’s every man for himself this Sunday. Bully Ray has been on fire ever since ditching Devon a year ago. Many people, myself included, want to see him get at least one championship reign.

However, with Roode as my favorite wrestler, I do not want to see Bully as champion now. Bobby Roode is doing an awesome job in his current role, and with Lockdown right around the corner, many people want to see Roode/Storm.

I’d like to see Bully Ray get his run as champion, but can we save it until after Lockdown?

I think Bobby Roode may steal a win at Against All Odds.

Predicted Winner: Still Champion, Bobby Roode
