High School Buzzer-Beater Video: Watch Prep Star Hit Epic Game-Winning Three
Tucked away in a tiny high school gym where a girl's basketball game was going on, something amazing happened.
The video features a game that took place between Riverview Gardens and Ritenour in the St. Louis area. It goes without saying that nothing much was bound to happen at a high school game that warranted a camera being used.
However, I would like to thank the overzealous family member or friend that had the camcorder buzzing along the sidelines, because something ridiculous and awesome did in fact go down.
The score was tied at 32 apiece with just two seconds on the clock. This is where Kobe Bryant would come in handy.
Instead, an inbounds pass gets passed in with almost nothing on the clock. The pass is immediately bumbled, but somehow the awesome athlete gets control of the ball.
As if harnessing her inner Derek Fisher, she realizes that there is no time to turn and shoot. She just needs to shoot and there is no time to worry about how things will look.
She takes a page out of every H.O.R.S.E. game ever played and fires the ball behind her head. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she called bank, because the ball kisses the board and goes in.
The crowd goes wild.
Forget that the crowd must have encompassed moms, dads and students serving detention by having to watch a girl's high school game. For one brief moment, this was Madison Square Garden.
Forget shot of the year, this sweet backwards jumper is the best shot ever. I am counting every dunk Blake Griffin has slammed and every skyhook from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's hand. It may even be better than my go-to eyes closed shot I bust out in backyard H.O.R.S.E. games.
Nah, maybe not that good.
