NFL Draft 2012: Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III Share Same March Pro Day

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

Stanford's Andrew Luck and Baylor's Robert Griffin III have both scheduled their Pro Day workouts for March 22, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter via CBS Sports, which could force scouts to make a tough decision on which top quarterback prospect they want to see throw before the 2012 NFL draft.

Luck and Griffin, like most elite quarterback prospects, will not throw at the scouting combine.

Since Luck is regarded as the top player in this April's draft, it is likely that more scouts and other talent evaluators will choose attend Griffin's workout because there is still more to learn about his skills.

Griffin throws a great deep ball but he needs to show teams he can be accurate while standing in the pocket and while throwing on the run.

Most experts project Luck will be selected No. 1 overall by the Indianapolis Colts, especially since Peyton Manning's future is uncertain because of his health status.

Griffin is the best quarterback prospect after Luck and there will be several teams interested in seeing how he looks at his Pro Day because there could be some general managers looking to trade up in the draft to take the Heisman Trophy winner if he impresses in March.

If the draft order remains the same and no trades are made, the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 4, the Washington Redskins at pick No. 6, the Miami Dolphins at pick No. 8 or 9 (coin toss vs. Panthers), and the Seattle Seahawks at pick No. 12 or 13 (coin toss vs. Chiefs) could all have significant interest in taking Griffin.

The Seahawks are a team to watch because they could be a good quarterback away from being a legitimate playoff contender next season sine their defense is pretty solid. The Redskins might be the most desperate team for a franchise quarterback, and could be aggressive in trading up to get Griffin.
