Rob Gronkowski Injury: Patriots Superstar Undergoes Surgery on Injured Ankle

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

New England Patriots record-setting tight end Rob Gronkowski has been under fire for his post-Super Bowl dance party, and today, he reportedly went under the knife.

According to Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal, the Gronk had a successful surgery this morning:

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, who confirmed the report, indicated prior to the Super Bowl that the 22-year-old would likely have surgery, according to sources. They were obviously right on the money.

The 10-week recovery means the Gronk should be back on the field in time for OTAs. That is obviously of little concern to the Patriots right now. This team knows what to expect from Gronkowski and simply want him to be ready for training camp when the time comes.

More than anything, it means we can expect the Gronk to put his famous dancing parties on hold for the time being.

His two-catch, 26-yard performance in the Super Bowl highlighted just how serious his injury was, and everybody who watched the game knows he gave his all in Indianapolis.
