Boise State to Big East: Rumors Heating Up Once Again
Just when the rumors die down, they heat up again.
As reported here on Bleacher Report nearly a week ago, it looked like the rumors of Boise State moving its football program to the Big East in time for the 2012 season were all but dead.
However, the story has resurrected, and this time it may have legs. It is still not a certainty, but unlike the earlier story, no denials are coming out of Boise State or its President at this time.
When these rumored first surfaced a week ago, Boise State President Bob Kustra was quick to say that he couldn't imagine how anyone could make that happen.
"I can't imagine how anyone can pull that off. We would never want to pull it off in a fashion that dealt shabbily with our existing partners in the Mountain West. I don't think that could ever work
"
So what has changed?
Well, one thing that seems to have changed is that, according to Brian Murphy of the Idaho Statesman, the WAC is prepared to take all of the other Bronco sports teams for the 2012-2013 season. Which, if this is true, would make it much easier for BSU to make the move.
As far as the Big East football schedule is concerned, the Broncos would simply move into West Virginia's spot.
The Mountaineers seem to be on their way to the Big 12 next season, no matter what it costs them, and it is that move that could plug the Broncos in.
In fact, NYDailyNews.com is reporting that the WVU move is a done deal.
The only other item on the table would be the handling of the exit from the Mountain West. President Kustra said himself that Boise State "would never want to pull it off in a fashion that dealt shabbily with our existing partners in the Mountain West."
Knowing how President Kustra feels, it would be hard to see how this could happen. But stranger things have happened.
2012 Boise State Football Schedule if They Move East

Boise State @ Southern Miss.
Boise State @ Connecticut.

The Broncos would probably have to pick up a game, and it would be anyone's guess of who that would be.
Is this going to happen?
Who knows?
But what an exciting time for the Broncos and their fans.
