Jeremy Lin: Positive Buzz Finally Engulfs Hapless Knicks

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

When you starve millions of fans, they will eat up the first good thing you offer them.

The Knicks have forever been mired in promise. The only problem is promises are constantly broken and only lead to offseason hope that next year will be different.

New York needs a title. They are starved for a championship but were perfectly fine to accept the promise that came from a star-studded team.

Amar'e Stoudemire came, and then Carmelo Anthony entered the city as well. Welcome Tyson Chandler, everybody. He is supposed to solve the defensive issues all by himself. Promises, they were again broken.

But something funny happened on the Knicks way to a 11-17 start to the season, they found that proverbial diamond in the rough.

Carmelo who?

Jeremy Lin has landed to give the Knicks a shot in the arm and something to believe in again. Lin has put together three straight games of 20 points or more.

The fact that each game has delivered a win to the Knicks means the name and mystique surrounding this former Harvard student grows exponentially.

The haters started to shout, "It's only one game." Now they are stating calmly, "It's only three games." The momentum reeks of you know who, and the buzz is incredible.

This is a team that was 6-11 in January. It was a horrendous showing considering all the promises made with the signing of Manhattan's very own big three. Well, it took a little one to make things pop at Madison Square Garden.

There will actually be thoughts of a Knicks win heading into Friday's clash with the LA Lakers. It won't be because of Carmelo Anthony who is out because of a groin injury.

It won't be due to Tyson Chandler or Amar'e Stoudemire. The stars are no longer the big names in the city that never sleeps.

Promises are fine, but this town demands the real deal, and they may have just found that in Jeremy Lin.
