Baylor vs. Missouri: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Adam WellsFeb 10, 2012

In a rematch of one of the best Big 12 games this season, the Baylor Bears will look to get back on track against the Missouri Tigers.

The Bears are coming off of a loss at home against Kansas. They jumped out to an early lead in that game, but were unable to hold it in the second half. They have three losses this season, all of them against Kansas and Missouri.

The Tigers have been on a roll since an upset loss to Oklahoma State on January 25. Their biggest win of the season came on the road at Baylor, and they will look to make it two-for-two against their conference rivals.

Missouri has been without forward Laurence Bowers since October due to a torn ACL.

What's at Stake?

Baylor needs this win desperately just to prove that it can hang with the big boys of the Big 12. So far, the Bears have had no luck. This game can make or break their spirit as we head down the stretch and approach conference tournament time.

Missouri is trying to keep up with Kansas in the Big 12. It has been a back-and-forth battle at the top of the conference all season, and, depending on the result of this game, it could come down to the Feb. 25 game between the Tigers and Jayhawks.

What They Are Saying

ESPN analysts Myron Medcalf and Eamonn Brennan had a discussion online about what this game means for Baylor and why it has something to prove.

"

We talked about it on my drive to Charlotte from Chapel Hill on Thursday -- the Bears got punked by Kansas this weekend. Frankly, they were punked by Mizzou in Waco in the last meeting. To me, this is Baylor's last chance to show us something. What are you? A glorified AAU team, as our colleague Doug Gottlieb hilariously tweeted Wednesday? Or a legitimate Final Four contender proportionate to your talent? Put up-or-shut up time for Scott Drew's team.

"

It sounds unusual to say that about a team that has just three losses this season, but the Bears have to show something to be considered a good tournament team.

Most Important Player to Watch: Baylor F/C Perry Jones III

Jones has been the best scorer for the Bears this season. He is averaging 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, but he has struggled in the three games against Kansas and Missouri.

Against those two teams, he is averaging just over 10 points per game. He was held to just five points on one-for-eight shooting against the Jayhawks on Wednesday.

He has to be a force on the inside for the Bears to hang with the high-powered Tigers.

Key Matchup: Missouri's Offense vs. Baylor's Defense

We could go with a singular matchup to watch for, but Baylor has to do anything and everything in its power to contain Missouri's seventh-ranked offense.

The first time these two teams met, the Tigers were able to put up 89 points. They didn't stop Baylor from scoring, but they were scoring at will in that game.

If Baylor wants to prove that it belongs in the conversation with Missouri and Kansas, it has to prove it can stop one of them.

Prediction

Until Baylor proves it can win against an elite team, it's impossible to bet on them.

Missouri 77, Baylor 70
