4 Draft Prospects Tim Tebow Needs on His Team to Win Next Year
Like any team, the Denver Broncos have serious needs that they are going to try to meet in the 2012 draft. Unlike other teams, they need to keep their quarterback in mind with almost every move they make.
Here are four picks the Broncos could target in the first two rounds in order to ease some of the pressure on quarterback Tim Tebow.
Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
On a team that is as run-heavy as the Broncos, and one that still needs to protect the mobile Tebow as he becomes more comfortable in the pocket, no OT is a better fit than Zebrie Sanders. He’s versatile, able to play on the right or left side and is strong in both pass protection and run-blocking. Depth on the offensive line is a key issue for the Broncos, and Sanders may be a smart first-round selection.
Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
In order to protect Tebow from having to play from significantly behind—not his strongest suit—the Broncos need to allow as few points scored on them as possible. While their defensive front is pretty solid, their secondary could use some help. Alabama’s Dre Kirkpatrick has taken a recent hit to his draft stock thanks to a marijuana arrest. If the Broncos are interested in him, he may still be available by the time their No. 25 first-round pick is due.
Orson Charles, TE, Georgia
Considering the kinds of seasons certain tight ends have had around the NFL in 2011, the position is going to be in high demand come draft day. The Broncos have a strong tight end in Daniel Fells, but when it comes to reliable weapons for Tebow, the motto should be the more, the merrier. That’s where Charles, projected to be the No. 3 tight end this year, comes in. He could be available for a second-round pickup.
Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
There’s no single-greater position that could help Tebow evolve into a better passer in 2012 than wide receiver, and they certainly need some big-play targets for him. When Tebow was named the starter, the team also cut their best receiver, Brandon Lloyd, which didn’t help Tebow’s chances much. While Demaryius Thomas has clearly emerged as Tebow’s favorite target, a dynamic receiver like Baylor’s Kendall Wright is just what the Broncos need. It’s just that he may be off the board before it’s time for the Denver to pick.
