WWE SmackDown Preview: Bryan vs. Orton, Mark Henry, McIntyre and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 1, 2018

This week, WWE presents another new episode of SmackDown. And if last week was any indication, tonight's should be another good one.

WWE has confirmed one match for the show, but there is plenty more to think about as Friday night approaches.

Let’s see what WWE SmackDown possibly has in store for its fans.

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Mark Henry is suspended indefinitely; Will the Hall of Pain remain open?

When Mark Henry won the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions in September, he became one of the most dominate heels that the WWE has seen in years.

He ran over every WWE superstar that got in his way and had the general manager in his back pocket.

No, he wasn’t paying off Teddy Long; he had him doing what he wanted out of fear.

Since Mark Henry became a monster obsessed with inducting superstars into his Hall of Pain, Teddy Long has been afraid to cross him by making a decision he didn’t like.

Now that he’s no longer the champion, the general manager has started to stand up to the World's Strongest Man.

Last week, Teddy Long declared that he was tired of being pushed around and suspended the former champion indefinitely.

In the WWE, though, a storyline suspension or firing means nothing.

Will Mark Henry reopen the doors to the Hall of Pain and make Teddy Long’s life a living hell?

Drew McIntyre must impress Teddy Long; How will he do that?

Drew McIntyre reappeared on the SmackDown brand a little over a month ago, and Teddy Long didn’t think he was worth the money he was getting paid.

The general manager booked the Scottish superstar in match after match, and each time he came up short.

McIntyre has been on the losing streak of a life time, losing to the likes of Santino Marella and Brodus Clay.

Last week, the general manager told McIntyre that he had a job but that he must impress him.

What will McIntyre do to impress Teddy Long?

Will Santino Marella have a new partner to challenge the Tag Team Champions?

Two weeks ago, the assistant to the general manager, Santino Marella, decided to start a quest to find a new tag-team partner so he could challenge the champions, Primo and Epico.

He first chose Yoshi Tatsu, but didn’t have much success.

Last week, he brought in WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan to take on the champions, but they were able to one-up the Italian superstar once again.

Will Santino have another partner and will this one lead him to victory?

Has Beth Phoenix Found a Challenge?

Beth Phoenix has been the WWE Divas champion since October, and has taken down every other woman on the roster at least once.

After missing for a few weeks, she returned at the Royal Rumble to lead her team to victory against Kelly Kelly, Eve, Alicia Fox and Tamina.

The next night on Raw, she defended her title against Eve and completely destroyed her.

Last week on SmackDown, she and Natalya took down the team of Aksana and Tamina, continuing the Glamazon’s dominating ways.

This past Monday on Raw, though, Beth saw a formidable opponent in Tamina, won a Royal Rumble rematch.

Will Tamina challenge Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship or will the champion issue the challenge herself?

Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton

The SmackDown elimination chamber match is set. Daniel Bryan must defend his World Heavyweight Championship against the Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, the Great Khali and Randy Orton.

Last week we saw some of the participants in action as Sheamus defeated Rhodes, Big Show beat Bryan and Orton took out Barrett.

As Orton celebrated his win, Bryan did the same when he ran out to the ring to play some mind games with his future opponent.

On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Bryan must face Orton in a non-title match.

Can the Viper gain some momentum by defeating the champion? Or will Daniel Bryan weasel his way to victory against the Apex Predator?

With this Monday’s Raw being very lackluster, WWE must step up their game this Friday night for SmackDown!

Can they do it? Tune in to find out!
