Manny Pacquiao vs. Tim Bradley: Freddie Roach Kicks off Festivities with Diss
Let the games begin!
The boxing world is still incredibly disappointed that the two best boxers in the world will not be fighting this coming May…so might as well start the trash talking against the lesser opponent early.
Manny Pacquiao has been awfully quiet about his decision not to fight Floyd Mayweather and subsequent choice to fight Timothy Bradley, so his trainer Freddie roach decided to jump in, firing the first shot (from boxingscene.com):
"He’s a dirty fighter, well, he’s a physical fighter, he uses his head, elbows, so forth. Manny does have some trouble with that because Manny can’t retaliate. I tell Manny that if a guy hits you low, hit him back low, but he won’t do that. So the thing is, it could pose a bit of a problem. But the thing is, his speed and his power should be too much for him. It should be an exciting fight as long as it lasts.
"
The fighters have yet to sign the paperwork for the June 9th fight, and Roach already can’t contain himself.
Roach is playing the good vs. evil card and continuing to make Pacquiao look like a saint in front of the mass media. The big concern of Pacquiao’s camp is the head butts. Bradley is infamous for this tactic and it could be a problem for Pacman, who needed 26 stitches to cover up an enormous cut over his eye.
Bradley had two fights stopped after his ferocious head butts knocked Nate Campbell and Devon Alexander into a daze. The issue that Pacquiao will have to deal with is the fact Bradley’s right-handed and Pacman is left-handed. This opens up plenty of opportunities for Bradley to unleash the maneuver.
Bradley is well aware of this and isn’t taking the bait (per mydesert.com):
"That doesn't bother me man. It just shows Freddie is a little worried about this fight. That stuff doesn't get under my skin. People have said worse things about me before.
"
So he’s not taking the bait early, but we still have four months until the fight so I’m sure that will be changing sooner or later.
As we get closer to the fight, the head butting issue won’t be going away anytime soon. It’s the biggest story heading into the bout and it could very well be the difference.
We know Roach is thinking about it.
