Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

The Kentucky Wildcats have lost only one game this year, but they're about to walk into one of their more difficult road tests against the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Coach John Calipari's team wins games by playing great basketball together. They have four players who average double digits in scoring and two others at over nine points per game.

Vanderbilt is the exact opposite and relies solely on the scoring of their two best players.

What's At Stake

Vandy is 3.5 games behind the Wildcats in the SEC. The Wildcats cannot relinquish the lead in the SEC with a loss, but it would give the Commodores a huge boost.

What They're Saying

Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal talks about Kentucky's brilliance this season, writing:

"

Looking for someone to handicap the NCAA title hopes of No. 1 Kentucky, No. 2 Syracuse and No. 3 Ohio State? Few people, if any, are as qualified as Florida coach Billy Donovan, who has led the Gators to three NCAA championship games — winning twice — and has played all three of this season’s national frontrunners on the road.

He lost to the Orange by four, the Buckeyes by seven and the Wildcats by 20 on Tuesday night. Then Donovan gave his take on how the three teams stack up.

"But I would think (the Wildcats) have as good a chance as anybody,” he said, adding that No. 1 Kentucky (24-1, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) seems to have the championship “disposition” that Donovan’s 2000, 2006 and 2007 teams had.

"That’s something UK’s past two teams might have lacked. If they went all the way, it wouldn’t be surprising."

"

Most Important Player to Watch: John Jenkins, G, Vanderbilt

The Vanderbilt junior is their top scorer and the key component of their offense. He averages 19.7 points per game and, along with Jeffery Taylor, they account for 37 points per game.

Jenkins will need to have a big game for his team to have any chance.

Key Matchup: Kentucky D vs. Jenkins and Taylor

The Wildcats only average four more points per game than Vanderbilt. If Jenkins and/or Taylor get off to a hot start—both shoot over 44 percent from beyond the arc—they could pose a problem for Kentucky.

Look for Calipari to take them away and force any other players to beat them.

Prediction: Kentucky 87, Vandy 79
