Terrell Owens: WR Remains Most Annoying Athlete Ever by Not Retiring Gracefully

Timothy RappJun 7, 2018

It's official: Terrell Owens is the most annoying athlete ever. His failure to retire gracefully from the NFL amidst a complete lack of interest from NFL teams seals the deal.

Owens' latest endeavor will be playing wide receiver for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. He will also be a 50 percent owner of the franchise and stands to make up to $500,000 with the team.

Of course, playing for the team is just another NFL tryout in Owens' mind. From Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com:

"

"It was an opportunity for myself and my family," Owens said. "It's a way for myself to keep in shape. I haven't retired from the NFL. I want to play a couple more years. This right here will allow me to do that and assess where I am. I know I'm physically fit to play the game still."

"

Why can't you just give it up already, Terrell Owens?

Was it not enough of an indication to you that NFL teams weren't interested when not a single one sent a representative to your ridiculous televised workout last year? Or that not one team signed you to a contract?

After an NFL career that saw you insinuate that Jeff Garcia was gay, divide the locker room in Philadelphia, cry in a press conference about Tony Romo then later claim there was a conspiracy between Romo and Jason Witten to get Witten the ball more, and all of the other crap you've pulled, why couldn't you just retire with some grace?

Well, for one, as Watkins implies, he probably needs the money:

"

Last year, he was sued several times for child support, said he lost an estimated $80 million in NFL and endorsement earnings and dealt with the passing of his grandmother, who raised him.

"

And I don't want to make it seem as though I believe Owens is some horrible, malicious human being—I would only go so far to suggest he's proven to be a selfish egomaniac over the course of his career.

And that's why he's the most annoying athlete I've experienced in my lifetime, and I'm tired of hearing about him, quite frankly. I wish him all the luck with the Wranglers.

But I hope he'll give up on the NFL already. That ship has sailed, T.O., and it ain't coming back for you.

Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets never accidentally fall over the goal line.
