Will Ferrell Steals Show with Hilarious Introductions for Bulls vs. Hornets
Will Ferrell took '80s night by storm in New Orleans with the best set of player introductions you will witness all season. The actor was apparently able to decode the invisible ink on some of the players' bios to come up with some hilarious notes about each of them.
For example, did you know Emeka Okafor minored in love at UConn? Or that Derek Rose absolutely loves The Notebook? These might not be facts, per se, but they are sure a lot more interesting than their height and weight.
Here's a video of the entire set of intros from Wednesday night:
It's funny that the Hornets broadcast felt the need to put a tag on the screen for Ferrell. Unless you've been living under a rock or traveling the world as a rodeo clown, which is apparently Jarrett Jack's dream job, you should know who Ferrell is by now.
The players really seemed to enjoy the spectacle of having him introduce them, especially Okafor, who looked like he was having the time of his life.
Hopefully this starts a trend of teams trying new things for the pregame festivities, which have lacked intrigue in recent years. Every franchise goes with a similar JumboTron montage followed by boring intros for both teams.
As the Hornets illustrated last night, that doesn't have to be the case. Obviously Ferrell doesn't have enough time to take his act on the road, but there have to be more fun ways to kick off the game than what's currently in place at most arenas.
Ferrell has had some hits and misses with his movies over the years, but he knocked it out of the park last night in New Orleans.
