Mel Kiper Jr 2012 NFL Mock Draft: Prospects ESPN Guru Must Add in Update
Mel Kiper Jr. hasn't released his second mock draft just yet. The ESPN draft guru has taken everything that has happened thus far in the draft process into account, and will give us his latest update sooner rather than later.
The 2012 NFL scouting combine is just around the corner and everything could change going forward.
As things stand now though, there are several players currently missing from Kiper's Jan. 18th mock draft version 1.0. Here are a few players that Kiper must add in the next update:

Picks 1-10
Kiper's top 10 is actually very well set up as of now.
"1. Colts—Andrew Luck
"
2. Rams—Justin Blackmon
3. Vikings—Matt Kalil
4. Browns—Robert Griffin III
5. Bucs—Trent Richardson
6. Redskins—Morris Claiborne
7. Jags—Quinton Coples
8. Panthers—Dre Kirkpatrick
9. Dolphins—Riley Reiff
10. Bills—Courtney Upshaw
The only pick that could easily be altered is Dre Kirkpatrick at No. 8. Regardless, all top players are potential top 10 picks and sure-fire first-round picks.
Picks 11-20
The mid-first-round picks are also first picks, not sure-fire though.
"11. Chiefs—Devon Still
"
12. Seahawks—Melvin Ingram
13. Cardinals—Jonathan Martin
14. Cowboys—David DeCastro
15. Eagles—Luke Kuechly
16. Jets—Mark Barron
17. Bengals (via Raiders)—Alfonzo Dennard
18. Chargers—Cordy Glenn
19. Bears—Michael Floyd
20. Titans—Nick Perry
Alfonzo Dennard is one player who has first round potential and will likely be picked, but he didn't have a great Senior Bowl and there are questions about his deep speed.
The Bengals do need help at cornerback, as well as running back and offensive guard, though.
One such player absent from the mock draft who could crack the top 20 is former Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
The one-time Gator played well this season, but showcased his elite skills at the Senior Bowl and reminded scouts why he would have been an early-to-mid first-round pick if he'd entered the draft last year.
Kiper has to add him in this time around.
Picks 21-32
The latter portion of the first round is compromised because Kiper made the picks before the conference championship games, but he does have a number of potential first-round picks who deserve to be selected on Day One.
"21. Bengals—Lamar Miller
"
22. Browns (via Falcons)—Kendall Wright
23. Lions—Zach Brown
24. Steelers—Dontari Poe
25. Broncos—Fletcher Cox
26. Texans—Mohamed Sanu
27. Patriots (via Saints)—Michael Brockers
28. Packers—Whitney Mercilus
29. Ravens—Vontaze Burfict
30. 49ers—Alshon Jeffery
31. Patriots—Andre Branch
32. Giants—Zebrie Sanders
One player missing from this portion of the round is Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams. The towering prospect had a good senior year, but displayed elite ability at times during the Senior Bowl.
He's a better overall prospect than Andre Branch, Zebrie Sanders and Whitney Mercilus. Adams must be added to this update.
One other player, Syracuse pass rusher Chandler Jones, is gaining a lot of steam as well. He could supplant Mercilus or Branch in the latter portion of the round.
Running back David Wilson of Virginia Tech and tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener are also potential late-first-round picks. Expect one of those tight ends to surface now that the final draft order is set.
