2012 NFL Draft Projections: Teams That Will Draft a Franchise QB in 1st Round
There are plenty of teams that are desperate for a permanent answer at quarterback, and some of them will hope they find those answers in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
The elite QB talent in this draft took a bit of hit when USC's Matt Barkley and Oklahoma's Landry Jones decided to go back to school, but as you'll see, there will still be plenty of QBs going in this first round.
Check it out:
1. Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
If you need an explanation of why the Colts are taking Andrew Luck No. 1 overall, welcome to football. Here is the NFL Wikipedia page. I'm sure you'll find it fascinating.
3. Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Heisman winner Griffin is the other QB in this draft that is a lock to go early. He is going to get plenty of interest, and teams will try and work deals to trade up and get him.
Ultimately, the Redskins will win this right as they will as they will trade up three spots and swap positions with the Vikings.
The Redskins will undoubtedly be in play for free agent options at QB, but they will either deem them too risky or expensive, and go for the nearly unlimited ceiling of Griffin.
9. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
Tannehill is not currently projected this high, but this QB is very athletic, has a good arm and at 6'4", he has ideal height.
His stock is going to soar at the NFL combine. This will be enough for the Dolphins to pass on the QBs in the free agent market and tie their future to this young QB.
25. Denver Broncos: Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State
The Broncos are not sold on Tebow. He is not a pure enough pocket passer for the likes of John Elway and the Denver brain trust—Osweiler is.
This QB has eye-popping attributes: He is 6'8" and has the strongest arm in the draft. He also has good foot work for a QB his size. This will have sent his draft stock soaring, and it will have the Broncos swooning.
