Pacquiao vs. Bradley: How Desert Storm Can Pull off Shocking Upset
Undefeated Timothy Bradley has the tools to beat Manny Pacquiao and if he can execute the following fight plan, will pull off a massive upset.
Bradley will enter this fight as a big underdog and deservedly so, but that doesn't mean he should be counted out.
He is an experienced and potent fighter. While he has just 28 professional fights, he is a well-decorated amateur. Desert Storm compiled an impressive 125-20 record as an amateur.
This is a huge, legacy-creating chance for Bradley. Here is what he should do to seize that.
Quick, Precision Punching
Bradley has tremendous hand speed and precision. The kind of hand speed Pacquiao has not seen in recent opponents.
He needs to work this to the fullest advantage. Along with his hands speed, he also moves very well.
Bradley must stay on the move and strike with quick and accurate flurries. This will earn him valuable points, while wearing down and frustrating Pacquiao.
It will also help keep him from getting into a toe-to-toe slugfest that he cannot win.
Set Him Up for the Right
Bradley is not a powerful fighter. He has just 12 KOs in his 28 fights. However, his right hand can still cause some damage.
He can't come into this fight and try to force that right. Pac-Man will batter him. He can set him up for it, though.
By staying on the move, Bradley will make Pacquiao desperate to land a big shot. Bradley can draw him in, wait for an opening and then strike with a big counter-punch right.
He isn't likely to knock Pacquiao out, but he can inflict some damage.
Wear Pac-Man Out
Bradley is a supremely conditioned fighter. He has gone 12 rounds (this will be a 12-round fight) in five of his last eight fights and has not shown a sign of slowing down.
Pacquiao is certainly no stranger to going the distance and wearing him out will be no easy task. Bradley will have to draw Pacquiao in for energy expending bursts of flying bombs and use his excellent defense to avoid them.
This will pay big dividends as the fight wears on and would open the door to Bradley dominating the later rounds and Pac-Man slows.
