Super Bowl XLVI: Charles Barkley Blows $100K on Big Game

Brian MaziqueJun 7, 2018

Charles Barkley is turrible, not really, I just say that whenever I get a chance.

Barkley blew $100K on the Super Bowl, proportionately, that is the equivalent of about $100 for most Americans. I don't think it's anything to get too worked up about, as it is a lifestyle Barkley has lived for decades.

Does Charles Barkley have a gambling problem?

It's possible, he has even said as much as early as 2006, but he also offered this quote, in vintage Barkley-fashion:

"

"But the problem is when you can't afford it. I can afford to gamble. I didn't kill myself when I lost two and half million dollars … I like to gamble and I'm not going to quit."

"

If you like it, I love it Chuck.

Apparently Chuck blew big bucks betting that the New England Patriots would cover in Super Bowl.

Needless to say, Gisele wasn't the only person cursing at Patriots' receivers on Sunday night.

Barkley took that one on the chin, the same as several Americans. His loss gets headlines because of the amount, and the fact that he's Charles Barkley.

This is unfortunately, just another example of an athlete's celebrity bringing more attention to his actions than is warranted.

Don't get me wrong, if there were stories of Barkley losing his home or not able to handle his financial responsibilities, then there would be cause for concern.

That hasn't happened, and hopefully it won't.

There are too many people in the United States with "regular" bank accounts, gambling their mortgages and savings away to worry about Charles blowing a wad on the Super Bowl.

The next time you watch NBA on TNT or a Weight Watchers commercial, just know, he just earned it right back.
