NBA Rumors: Headcases That Will Cause More Trouble Than They're Worth

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

Several guys are still on the market and available, but there's probably a good reason in particular that this certain group of NBA players either don't have current teams, or have played for many  teams throughout their careers.

It's because they are headcases.

Here's a look at a group of headcases that teams should stay away from because they aren't worth the trouble.

Allen Iverson

1 of 5

Iverson's representatives reached out to every team in the league in an attempt to make a comeback. Iverson has tried again now that he owes his Georgia jeweler over six figures, but no one is listening.

Not even taking into account whether he still has the game to be a productive NBA player, every team in the league should keep on forgetting about him as an option.

He's way more trouble then he's worth.

Rasheed Wallace

Wallace is another guy not worth the trouble.

He's attempting a comeback but hasn't drawn much interest from anyone other than the Lakers, who could still attempt to sign him.

If they do, they'll get all the baggage that comes along with him.

Gilbert Arenas

Arenas is another headcase that's also linked to the Lakers.

He's worth staying away from not only because of his decreased production and bad knees, but because of the problems he's caused throughout his career.

With personalities like Kobe Bryant and Metta World Peace already in Los Angeles, adding an Arenas or Wallace to the mix can't be good for the locker room.

Stephen Jackson

Jackson hasn't come out and demanded a trade yet, but he caused a stir saying that he and Dwight Howard have talked about playing together in New Jersey.

New Jersey and every other team in the NBA should stay away from him. He's been nothing but trouble.

Jackson's been suspended by the NBA and the Bucks, was benched and has been at odds with head coach Scott Skiles, all in a matter of 23 games.

He's hasn't complained about his situation and his teammates seem to love him, but he's been a headcase in the past—one that teams don't really need to deal with.

J.R. Smith

Someone will definitely grab Smith as soon as he's eligible to sign with an NBA team, but they need to tread carefully.

He's talented and can help a team out, but he's a headcase to deal with as well. Smith caused his share of problems in Denver and even said that he wouldn't listen to head coach George Karl.

When he does sign, hopefully teams can keep his sister away as well. She's been quite the headcase over in China, too.
